Mount Sheridan sits about 10 kilometres south west of the Cairns CBD, with Bayview Heights and Woree to the north, White Rock to the east and Bentley Park to the south. The Bruce Highway and railway line run along its eastern edge, and to the west the houses give way to the Lamb Range, home of the peak the suburb takes its name from. Mount Sheridan Plaza on Barnard Drive and Forest Gardens Shopping Village are the main shopping spots.
