Electrician Earlville

Bringing established homes up to date.

G'day, I'm Lachlan from Flow State Electrics. I'm based in Mount Sheridan, a short drive from Earlville along the Bruce Highway and Mulgrave Road. A lot of my work in established suburbs like Earlville is bringing older electrical gear up to date: new switchboards, compliant smoke alarms and LED lighting.

About the area

Working In Earlville

Earlville is one of the established southern suburbs of Cairns. Our Lady Help of Christians School opened there in 1964, and Mulgrave Road, once known as Hap Wah Road after the early sugar plantation, still runs through the middle of it past Stockland Cairns. Most homes are in the centre and east of the suburb, with the hills of the west left undeveloped and Henleys Hill Park in the south west.

Homes that have been around a while can still have older switchboards, fuses or smoke alarms that are past their use by date. If yours is one of them, I'll take a look and tell you what's worth upgrading and what can stay.

FAQ

Your Earlville Questions Answered

How do I know if my Earlville home needs a switchboard upgrade?

Common signs are old ceramic fuses, few or no safety switches, frequent tripping, buzzing, scorch marks or a burning smell. If you notice burning smells or scorch marks, call a licensed electrician straight away.

What is an RCBO?

An RCBO is a safety switch and circuit breaker in one. I fit one on each circuit, so a fault only trips that circuit instead of the whole house.

We're getting the roof redone. Can you take the solar panels off?

Yes. I isolate the system, take the panels off and store them safely on site, then refit, reconnect and test them once your roofer is finished. Let me know your roofer's schedule early so we can line up the timing.

My smoke alarms are old. Do they need replacing?

Under Queensland's rules, alarms must be photoelectric, less than 10 years past their manufacture date and interconnected. If yours don't meet that, they'll need replacing before 1 January 2027.
