Solar Decommission & Recommission in Cairns

Getting your roof replaced, rescrewed or resprayed? I take your panels off and put them back on.

G'day, I'm Lachlan. I safely take existing solar panels off your roof before roof work, store them safely on site, then reinstall, reconnect and test them once your roofer is done. I don't install new solar systems — this service is just for the panels you already have. I'm based in Mount Sheridan and work right across Cairns.

Why it matters

Why It Needs A Licensed Electrician

A roof replacement, rescrew or respray usually means the solar panels have to come off first. Your panels keep producing electricity whenever there's daylight, so they need to be properly isolated and disconnected before anyone works around them.

The Electrical Safety Office says solar maintenance that involves electrical work must be done by a licensed electrician. I'm a licensed electrical contractor (ECL 1504819), so your system is isolated, disconnected, reconnected and tested properly.

Taking the panels off and putting them back on is all I do with solar. I don't install new solar systems.

FAQ

Common Questions

Do you install new solar systems?

No. I don't install new solar systems. I only remove and reinstall existing panels when your roof is being replaced, rescrewed or resprayed.

How does timing work with the roofer?

Book me in early and let me know your roofer's schedule. I take the panels off before the roof work starts and come back to reinstall them once the roof is finished.

Will the solar still work after it goes back on?

Once the panels are reinstalled and reconnected, I test the system to check it's working before I leave.

Where are the panels kept during the roof work?

The panels are stored safely on site, out of the way of your roofer, while the roof work is done.

Can the roofer just take the panels off?

Disconnecting and reconnecting a solar system is electrical work. In Queensland, solar maintenance that involves electrical work must be done by a licensed electrician.

Roof Work Coming Up?

Get your solar safely decommissioned and recommissioned by a local, licensed electrician.
